While women in Africa are very much oppressed, a housemaid’s condition is even more wretched one.
Wanja is an orphan and lives with her distant aunt. However, she does all the household chores much like a house cleaner than a relative.
Daily she has to face abuses, verbally as well as physically. Since she and her family depend exclusively on her aunt, Wanja has not disclosed this to her parents in fact she only prays that her aunt does not become more violent.
The most pathetic situation is that, instead of understanding the fellow women and giving the other women a supporting hand it is violence by women against women, which is perpetuating.
They are the regular happenings in their society that they seldom get reported to police or human rights organizations.
Moreover, victims too are not aware of their rights and so are incapable to communicate their situations to appropriate authorities.
