Amsterdam’s red-light district is renowned for its various vices, and now one of its most famous trades, prostitution, is getting a statue in its honor.
That’s right, Els Rijerse is busy these days with making of the piece and that it would likely be made public at the end of March.
The district is set to receive a bronze statue in honor of the city’s famed working girls. It depicts a woman who, feet apart and standing in a doorway at the top of small set of steps, looks self-assuredly into the world.
Mariska Majoor, a former prostitute who commissioned the statue said,
‘In many countries, prostitutes struggle and people have no respect for them whatsoever. The statue is meant to give all those men and women strength.’

It’s juste a big world of hypocrisi we’re living in. Women are often the one to blam because of their negative atitude toward prostituts. Werease men are humiliated by the fact that they need them and for many of them, cannot cope without; therefore, they ”despise” these women. Don’t forget that we’re living in a world of men made by and for men. Only women can change this fact by changing there way of acting. Today, I just red a word Gandi said : IF ONLY WOMAN COULD STOP THINKING SHE’S THE WEAK SEX!!!!! We’re a lot more powerfull than men and they know it! That’s why they’ve been inclosing us in what they could: religions, gold cages, no possibility to make proper studies, mariage and many children, veil (clothing) and abuses of all kind . I know it’s not easy at all getting out from poverty, beyond custums and uses, but don’t forget that in europeen countries, women had to struggle to get a better life and to gain freedom. And yet, the struggle is not finished. Nothing is never a total victory, FREEDOM IS A FIGHT OF EVERYDAY’S LIFE FOR EVERY WOMAN? ALLOVER THIS PLANETE; Shortsighted people are allways here to take part or all our freedom, very insediously, that’s why we have to be carefull and get together on the maximum.
