Sonia would become the first woman to be hanged in Independent India. A death sentence has been passed to her along with her husband who ruthlessly battered their eight family members to death just for the sake of property, which is estimated to billions of rupees.
The couples were residents of Haryana village in Chandigarh, India.
The session’s judge, had sentenced the duo to death, but the Punjab and Haryana High Court, on appeal, commuted the capital punishment to life imprisonment, challenged in the Supreme Court by the Haryana Government and victim’s brother.
Sonia feared that her father would give the entire property to her stepbrother and his wife, she being the daughter of his second wife.
Sonia, along with her husband Sanjeev, who’s also facing the gallows, has decided to appeal for presidential mercy.

I would comment on this as the best of the results that would have been in India till date, this clearly shows the equality that the judge paid to the genders rather than being harsh at males, as they are being projected in the society at all places as criminals and letting loose to females, who are termed as ablas.
