Do you know which is the most fertile country of year 2006 in Europe? According to French government’s statistical office INSEE now every woman in France has two babies that is the highest in European countries. Jean-Michel Charpin, head of INSEE’s census of the country for the year 2006 told that, while comparison rates were not yet available.
Probably France has overtaken Ireland last year in terms of fertility rates. There were 830,900 births in France last year.

The Census shows the rise of 2.9 per cent in birth rate as compared to year 2005. According to INSEE, this is the highest level in 30 years. Some reasons behind the growing birth rates in France:
With successive governments’ family-friendly policies, most French women can take time off from their jobs without too much financial loss.
The childcare is either virtually free or can cost up to a maximum of some 500 euros a month.
Nursery school is free for every child from the age of three.
1,000 euros (£659) a month paid to mothers who give up work for her third child.
Some other benefits are increase in grants, allowances, taxes breaks and free public transport etc. after third child.

That’s nice having kids, but in a world where the futur is so vague, in distruction, with less and less work, what are we going to give these children ? What world are we leaving for the futur generations ? I’m fed up to do like the ostreich, putting my head in the sand to stay blind.
