Frassoni blames Musharraf’s government

An Italian MEP, Monica Frassoni’s reference to a recent murder of a Pakistani woman in Italy by her own father became instrumental in shedding some light of criticism on the Pakistani president Gen. Pervez Musharraf. The cause of the murder was the woman’s reluctance to an arrange marriage and willingness to a non- Islamic lifestyle. Frassoni further said that the Pakistani government has to be blamed because the laws are such that it gives no support to women and is ‘often appearing accommodating to those who want to maintain this situation’.
