
Said T Jawad, an Ambassador of Afghanistan to the United States emphasized that education is the only tool, which would be instrumental in empowering women in the society.
While addressing at the students at Thunderbird University where 15 Afghan businesswomen graduated, Jawad asserted the given statement.
An Afghan News Pajhwok reveled that the participants of Thunderbird University would come back to their native place to spread out their business ventures and help the other entrepreneurs as well.
The Ambassador commented,
‘This multiplier effect shows us that education is the best tool of empowering women in any society, particularly in war-torn countries such as Afghanistan where the future of our country rests on women.’
He put in plain words that how women played an important role during 1960s and 1970s but then due to social, political and social marginalization they were not given their due importance. He said,
‘Despite their victimisation by the Taliban, women have played a vital role in Afghanistan’s reconstruction since 2001. Women were elected to 68 seats in the lower house of the country’s parliament.’
