Human Rights Council discusses violence against women & trafficking in persons
The Human Rights Council on 20th of September heard presentations by the Special Rapporteur on violence against women, its causes and consequences. Yakin Erturk, the Special Rapporteur on violence against women said that she had been to Turkey, Sweden, Netherlands, Russian Federation, Iran, Mexico, and Afghanistan. And collected data from there which shows that the condition of women is quite pathetic in the regions. Special Rapporteur on the human rights, Sigma Huda postulated that the violation of fundamental rights is of universal concern. He further said that women and children are particularly vulnerable to sex trafficking. The countries were women, children are more prone to violence, and trafficking are Afghanistan, Iran, Mexico, the Russian Federation, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Lebanon. Delegations who were participating in the forum were from Belarus, Argentina, Uruguay, Costa Rica, New Zealand, Chile, Norway, Brazil, Australia, Japan, Finland, Sudan, Canada, Iceland, Morocco, Switzerland, Algeria, Bangladesh, and Thailand.
