When the entire country was soaked up with water and was celebrating the festival of colors, Irom Sharmila, an activist from Manipur was busy fighting for rights.
She had been on hunger strike from the past six years. She has taken up stand for withdrawal of the controversial Armed Forces Special Powers Act. Ever since Assam Rifles, personnel purportedly slaughtered the lives of ten innocent persons in Manipur.
On Sunday, she reached Imphal after discharging from a hospital in Delhi where she had been admitted two months ago and was being force-fed through the nose.
Although Sharmila maintains she was able to draw international attention to her protest, she laments that the Centre has turned a deaf ear.
