India: Bangalore safest for women folk
Lately, the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) in collaboration with the National Commission for Women (NCW) has put forward a study according to which, Bangalore offers the most security to its women employees. The same can be seen in case of Chennai, Ludhiana, Pune and Kolkata. Hospitality executive Preeti Kumar affirmed the survey and said that people do respect women in Bangalore and their mentality too is broad unlike Delhi. The study further revealed that the flourishing IT and BPO industries have women employees in good percentage with high stress and erratic work hours but even then they feel safe and least harassed in the working environment. Latika Pai, a BPO executive is of the view that more and more number of women are enrolling themselves in professional courses and some 40% of them are in BPO industry. Consequently, men are accustomed to being in the company of women right from college days and this has further given rise to equality among them.
