The state government of Himachal Pradesh, India has come up with a new verdict according to which a female foeticide would be dubbed as a Murder and any body informing the state government regarding the crime would be offered Rs. 10,000.
Mr. Virbhadra Singh, the Chief Minister of the sate declared during a seminar on female foeticide that,
‘All those who indulge in this heinous act and who conduct it are equally responsible for this crime.’
Adding further, he said that government would offer five lakh rupees as an incentive to those panchayats (village councils) where the female birth would outnumber males.
He also stated that his government has decided to reward Rs 25,000 to those families that would adopt family planning after the birth of first female child and to those who adopt it after the birth of two female children.
