
The State Commission for Women (SCW) has reported an increase in the number of violence cases against women in Jammu and Kashmir, India.
SWC Secretary, Mrs Hafiza Muzaffer said that the graph depicting violence against women is showing an upward trend and is a matter of great concern.
The Minister for Social Welfare Haji Nissar is of the view that in order to reduce the crime, the institutions that are related to protect & safeguard women should be given more power.
He further said that though police is working well with respect to their duties but there remains a scope for improvement.
He laid stress on the idea of workshops and programs that would help the women folk. And said that government would give financial assistance to the project.
