The Association of Female Lawyers of Liberia (AFELL), have raised concern over the slow pace in the prosecution of rape cases and other sexual and gender based violence issues, being faced by women and children.
The AFELL asserted that it is not satisfied with the manner in which the supposed perpetrators are sent to jail, particularly when it is no secret that the prisons in the country are already packed and some of those victims may get exhausted due to the long court dealings in prosecuting said cases.
Attorney Zeor Daylue Barnard stated that, the end of this crime could only be made a reality when the men play their roles and responsibilities in an effort to end the gender violence in the country.
Daniel Mulbah, director of Men in Action for Peace (MAP) said that they are joining the advocacy not only for prosecution but also to help educate the citizens on the prevention of the crimes.
