A surgeon was free to resume his career after he was cleared of double rape. The victims’ allegations couldn’t end in conviction because they were under the influence of alcohol.
Two women both teachers by profession indicted Dr Rance, of Worthing, West Sussex, of sexually molesting them.
When they confronted the jury members, however, the victims didn’t obtain any kind of justice. In fact, the jury rebuffed the allegations by charging the women with drinking.
Not only this, the jury believed Dr Rance’s explanation that both women were willing participants. He said all three had been flirting and the women were ’sociable, bubbly and flirty’.
The jury is just looking one side of the issue they must see what kind of traumatic affect it makes on the lives of the victims. Thus, the hour of the need is to amend the laws regarding these kinds of cases.
