older-women-walkingThe University of Southern California has postulated a report, according to which, women in their 60’s are at a higher risk of heart disease than their male counterpart but women in their middle ages are at a lower risk of cardiac problems relatively.

According to Eileen Crimmins, corresponding author and professor in USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology, the chances of men with high level of blood pressure and cholesterol have considerably decreased in U.S ‘over 60 years of age’.

The study further illustrated that women have relatively increased the risk of high blood pressure. Moreover, the effectiveness of hypertension medicines was higher in men as compared to women.

The study also put forward the idea that those women who perform some amount of physical work are less prone to cardiac problems than those who do not work at all.
