woza_50In a recent incident, police put up charge against a peaceful march of women in Zimbabwe, which was organized by the women’s rights organization, WOZA, Women of Zimbabwe Arise.

It has resulted in injuries and arrest of more than 70 individuals.

Department of State has said the action as ‘brutal reaction to this peaceful effort of Zimbabwean citizens to exercise their rights’.

The United States has accused Robert Mugabe’s government for violating human rights of the citizens.

State Department spokesman Sean McCormack
stated,

‘The government’s actions against those wishing to protest on behalf of greater democracy, better wages and access to treatment for AIDS sufferers is another example of its denial of the basic rights of its citizens’.
