Royal College of Nursing is supporting the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which happens to be on 25th of this month.
It is also be identified as White Ribbon Day, a crusade initiated by a faction of Canadian men in reaction to the murder of engineering students at the University of Montreal. Since then it has been started as the White Ribbon Day across the globe.
The purpose of this is to acknowledge men that domestic violence is a grave public health problem.
Those taking part in the White Ribbon Campaign take three individual vows that they will never:
• perform any violent deeds against women
• ignore violence against them
• remain silent about violence against women.
On this day, men wear white ribbon in manifestation of their resistance to violence against women.
