Russia rebuffs UN’s report on violence against women
Russian representative Valery Loshchinin stated that the report framed by the United Nations on violence women is false and is not just. According to the report, the condition of women in Russia is deteriorating and that the law is not enough to protect the women as a whole. Loshchinin totally refuted the information. However, Yakin Erturk, Special Rapporteur of UN on violence against women asserted that political and economic transition in the country had affected women in general. Talking about Iran, she said that discrimination against women is the part of their society. It is the case with Afghanistan and Darfur as well where violence against women is still persistent. Ali Reza Moayeri, Iranian representative said that women in their nation have attained success and that the report of the UN Rapporteur is based on allegations because of which it has reduced to a political statement. Mexican representative Pablo Macedo said that after the report of Erturk, his country has taken certain measures for safeguarding women. Afghan representative Assad Omer said that the number of girl students is growing in his nation.
