Sweden: A feminist party setting its sights on Parliament
Feminist Initiative (Fi), a feminist party of Sweden is expected to take a dive in coming election by setting its sights on parliament. Schyman a high-profile figure of the Swedish feminist movement said that they wanted to make themselves heard in the parliament. Since, it is a ‘myth’ that there is equality among genders in Sweden. The nation’s gender equality ombudsman Claes Borgstrom too echoes the views. There is salary difference among the genders. Though women are represented in the politics but the number of female, CEO’s is just five out of 291 companies. As Maud Eduards, political science professor at Stockholm University says that women are subjected to great amount of brutality. However, the chances of Fi’s winning is very less because the people are interesting in supporting only one-issue party.
