Human rights groups in Tunisia have stated that girls in educational institutes are being forced to remove their headscarf or else, they are being subjected to harassment.
However, the establishments refuted the charges but are of the view that they are encouraging women to wear decent dress in line with Tunisian traditions.
It has been postulated that this kind of disapproval is a part of tussle between the Islamic group and the Arab government.
The aim of such a move by the Tunisian authorities is to demolish the powerful symbol of Islam, that is, the ladies head cover, without being coming under the envelope being un- Islamic.
However, the move sounds strange in a society where 98% of the population is Sunni Muslims.
