Mohammed Al-Qadhi a Yemeni journalist and columnist write that the political parties have shown no support for women in the region. However, they talk about the matter in lofty speeches but nothing actually comes out of it.
He further said that women in power themselves are also not in favor of changing the social scenario. Some of those women claiming to be fighters for women rights are hypocrites who want to make these issues a means for attaining personal interests.
The leading women who supported the women candidacy and empowerment cause protested just a day before the application for local councils candidacy terminated. This proves that none of these parties was serious about supporting and empowering women politically.

Suzanne Swift, the then twenty one year old Army Specialist, was arrested for showing her reluctance in going back to fight in Iraq. She served in Iraq for a year but decided she won’t return and went AWOL. Not only did she feel the war lacked purpose, Swift said her superiors repeatedly sexually harassed her while serving in Iraq.
